Learning About Building Wellness and Efficiency
Just in time for back to school, O’Dell hosted an event entitled “Building Wellness & Efficiency” aimed at engineers, contractors and building owners. Held at our training centre in Waterloo, seminars were presented by AtmosAir, Nortec and enVerid.
Below is a brief summary of each:
Bi-polar Ionization (Atmosair)
Atmosair’s Carlos Gendron explained the principles of Bi-polar Ionization (BPI) and how to apply it within HVAC design. He spoke of the benefits of BPI to occupants in indoor spaces and how it improves indoor air quality while reducing a building’s energy footprint.
Using Humidification to Deliver Energy Savings (Nortec)
It’s a fact that a properly humidified space delivers better indoor air quality (IAQ) In this seminar, presented by Chris Habets, we looked at how to use evaporative humidification to deliver reduced energy bills by extending economizer operation.
Reducing HVAC Equipment Cost and Saving Energy using ASHRAE IAQP (enVerid)
Presented by Dr. Israel Biran, participants learned about:
- When and how to apply ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP
- Building code compliance using IAQP
- Compliance of sorbent-based air cleaning technologies for IAQP
- Achieving LEED points with IAQP using sorbent-based air cleaning technologies
With increasing emphasis on the wellness of buildings, the seminars delivered valuable information that can be immediately applied in buildings to improve indoor air quality and reduce energy consumption. Overall, the event was a great success!
