Celebrating 35 Years in Business!
Grand River Collegiate Institute, Kitchener

Kitchener’s Grand River Collegiate Institute recently underwent an addition to update their science labs. In each of the new classrooms, a lab exhaust hood was installed to facilitate experiments with hazardous gases for senior classes.

MNE Engineering provided mechanical engineering services for the project and worked with O’Dell Associates to specify a suitable exhaust fan for the application.

The PennBarry vPlume was selected for the lab hoods to ensure a high level of safety and health by propelling contaminated effluent away from the building. MNE selected one fan to serve two lab hoods. In order to ensure accurate exhaust airflows from each hood, the vPlume was outfitted with a bypass damper to allow variable airflow from the space. The bypass damper effectively varies the exhaust airflow while maintaining discharge air velocity from the stack. The vPlume is coated with phenolic epoxy powder coat with UV protection for a long service life.
