Delivering a Fully Decarbonized Air Handling Solution for the Toronto Zoo
O’Dell HVAC Group recently collaborated with Ecosystem to support the Orangutan Habitat in the Toronto Zoo in advancing their sustainability and decarbonization objectives. Together, the teams delivered a Valent Air Management fully decarbonized air handling solution, designed to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions across the facility.
This installation features the Valent VXE, a high-performance unit designed to provide efficient, low-carbon heating and cooling. The system is equipped with an Air-Source Heat Pump (ASHP) as the primary source for both heating and cooling, supported by electric backup heat to ensure reliable performance in all conditions.
Additional features include:
-
Full-sized enthalpy recovery wheel for enhanced energy recovery and reduced operating costs
-
ECM condenser fans for improved efficiency and reduced maintenance
-
Inverter scroll compressor for optimized performance and lower energy consumption
-
Side discharge configuration, offering flexibility for unique project requirements
This project is a strong example of how innovative HVAC solutions can help organizations like the Toronto Zoo reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and move meaningfully toward their long-term decarbonization goals.
The Toronto Zoo’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in projects like this one – innovative, future-focused, and built on collaboration. We are proud to have contributed to an installation that not only supports their operational needs but also aligns with their environmental mission.
